Dorothy Goodman Baylor passed away peacefully on May 2, 2021 at age 95. She was born on March 15, 1926 in London, Texas, the youngest of 7 children of Jack and Elizabeth Goodman. She grew up on a small ranch about 3 miles outside London. Upon graduating from London High School, she packed all her belongings in a suitcase, took a bus to Dallas and enrolled in “secretarial school” to learn typing and shorthand. Imagine the adjustment in her surroundings.
She was an excellent athlete, and highly competitive. While in school she ran track and played both softball and volleyball. She continued playing volleyball until her late thirties. She worked for the Civil Service Administration for 33 years. When she retired from Civil Service, she returned to Junction to care for her siblings and neighbors. She was a very loving and caring person. As her health became a concern, she moved to Arlington in 2011 to be near her sons.
Her husband, Charles T. Baylor died in 1960. She continued to work and raised her two sons. She is survived by her sons Michael Baylor, his wife Marsha and James Baylor and his wife Sherry, two grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Because of Covid a service is not planned. Her remains will be interred in Arlington.
