Dovie Belva Morris, age 97, peacefully passed away on February 10, 2026, at her home in Grand Prairie, Texas. She was the beloved wife of the late George W Morris, whom she was married to for 68 years.
She was born November 18,1928, in Center, Texas, and to be honest, she may have been born in 1929. She never really knew for sure as her birth certificate was burnt up in a courthouse fire when she was very young. So she decided that 1928 seemed like a good year and kept that as her year of birth. She was the daughter of William Elbert Corbitt and Kate Amanda Towns Corbitt.
She graduated from Southwestern Assemblies of God University in Waxahachie, Texas, where she met the love of her life, George. She was the mother of 3 wonderful children, David, Gary and Viki, who she loved and adored.
She lived most of her life in Tyler, Texas where she was a mother, housewife, and later became a tax preparer for H&R Block until her retirement. She was a dedicated member of Rose Heights Church for most of her life and later became a member of Gospel Lighthouse Church after moving to the DFW metroplex.
Belva and George moved to Grand Prairie, Texas, where they were able to buy the home of their dreams and got to enjoy the final years of their life surrounded by their kids, their family and friends.
Belva was a loving and precious wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved to travel and was blessed to visit many places around the world. She played the piano, guitar, French horn and accordion and sang in the choir at church.
Her infectious smile could light up a room, her hugs could heal any wound, and her prayers would cover you like blanket of protection. To know her was to love her and to love her was a gift. She was a devoted Christian who served the Lord her entire life. She raised her family in the will of God and wanted nothing more than for her family to serve and follow Jesus in all ways.
She is survived by her children, Gary Morris and Viki Morris Pirtle, and daughter-in-law Janet Morris. Her 5 Grandchildren, Garren Morris, Christopher Morris and Wife Kristen, Aimee Phillips and Husband TJ, Amanda Pirtle, Bradley Pirtle and wife Brittany. Along with her 9 great grandchildren, Katlyn, AJ, Erin, Alex, Whitney, Jordan, Tamera, Justus and Grayden. She was preceded in death by her Husband George W Morris, Son David Morris, and parents William and Kate Corbitt.
A Memorial Service will be held in her honor on Monday, February 16, 2026, at 12:00 PM.
Viewing and Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 15, 2026, from 2:00 - 3:00 PM. Both Viewing and Service will be located at Moore Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 1219 North Davis Drive, Arlington, Texas 76012.
