1944 – 2025
Ed McKee, 81, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, August 17, 2025.
A celebration of Ed’s life will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, August 29th at Moore Funeral Home Chapel, 1219 North Davis Dr., Arlington, TX. 76012 with burial to follow at Moore Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday at the funeral home.
Ed was the definition of a life well-lived. A beloved husband, devoted father, proud grandfather, and cherished friend to many. Ed was a man who could light up any room with a twinkle in his eye and a prank up his sleeve. He loved to laugh—and loved even more to make others laugh. Anyone who knew Ed knew he was a character, a storyteller, and a man who never missed an opportunity to stir up a little mischief.
A proud graduate of the University of Texas, Ed went on to earn his law degree and build a distinguished career as a forensic accountant. He spent over 30 years with Lain Faulkner, where he was known for his sharp mind, integrity, and unwavering work ethic. His colleagues admired his ability to find truth in the numbers—and to bring levity to even the most complex cases.
Ed proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, where he was part of the 191st Assault Helicopter Company. He was a decorated officer, earning several commendations for his service, including the Distinguished Flying Cross, Army Commendation Medal, and Purple Heart. His courage and dedication were matched only by his humility—he wore his service with pride but rarely spoke of it unless it added humor to a good story.
Long before blogs were common, Ed found joy in sharing what he called “Texas wonderments”—quirky discoveries spotted on the side of the road—through a regular email blog. He always said, “The best part of any trip is the journey,” and he meant it. A two-hour drive could easily turn into a twelve-hour adventure if you were traveling with Ed. His motto was: “Life’s short. Sometimes you have to have dessert first.”
Ed now joins his beloved wife of many years, Joanne McKee, who passed away 21 years ago. Their reunion, we know, is filled with laughter and love.
He is survived by his daughters, Shannon McKee and her husband John Seidel, and Heather Lucas and her husband Bryan Lucas, and his adoring grandchildren: Rachel Lucas, Jessica Lucas, Colton Seidel, and Ainsley Seidel.
To know Ed was to be reminded not to take life too seriously. His legacy is one of joy, humor, love, service, and unforgettable road trips. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit and stories will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
