Irma Nell Knight and her twin sister, Herma Bell, were born November 1, 1929 in Boonville, Arkansas. Irma’s twin sister, Hema Bell, survived for only six weeks. They were born at home to Stanley and Blanche Knight. Irma was one of six children who all preceded her in death. She and her siblings were raised in Boonville, Arkansas.
Irma was a member of the Church of Christ. Irma attended Arkansas State Teachers College and became a second grade teacher.
Irma met Walter L. Warters on a blind date in Pensacola, FL where he was stationed in the Navy. Walt and Irma married July 9, 1957. They raised their three children Pamela, Lynn and Michael in Texas and were married for 45 years until Walt’s death on June 14, 2002.
Irma loved children so teaching was a natural outgrowth of that love. Irma especially loved Christmas and sharing the joy of Christmas with Walt and her children. God blessed Irma beyond measure with a wonderful husband, three children, eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
God called Irma Nell Warters into his presence at 6:45 p.m. on August 26, 2020 at 90 years, 9 months and 26 days old. To God be the glory for the long life of blessings he bestowed upon Irma.
