Jim was born Dec. 10, 1938, in Eastland. He was a member of the Arlington High School, class of 1957. He then served his country proudly in the U.S. Air Force. He met and married the love of his life, Jean Adams, soon after leaving the Air Force, and they were married until his death one day short of their 48th wedding anniversary.
Jim spent 36 years with city of Arlington where his passion was using his considerable skills as a journeyman electrician, certified plumbing inspector and certified building inspector to help others make a better life. He was a respected guest lecturer at Texas A&M University, and a lifelong Baptist. He was active in the Arlington Christmas Samaritans and followed in his father's footsteps as a 32d degree Mason. Jim retired from the city of Arlington having helped thousands and holding the distinction of being the longest-serving employee at the city of Arlington. Jim's calling was building and creating. He spent his retirement years working on a family farm and building things that made people happy and made their lives better. He built houses for several members of his immediate family, but his true love was for his wife Jean and his family. He also greatly enjoyed his dogs, ranching and westerns. He recently remarked to his wife Jean, "You know, we've had a pretty great life." He was right, and he will be dearly missed.
