A memorial service is planned for Saturday, February 4th, 12:30pm, at Moore Funeral Chapel, 1219 North Davis, in Arlington. A Life Celebration Party will be held afterwards – details will be made available at the memorial. A private military service will be held for the family at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
Jim is survived by his wife of 37 years, Michele, and children: daughters Amber, Melissa, and Ceara, and son Jose, all of Arlington. He also leaves behind his two precious granddaughters, Angel and Ellie, his sisters Beverly and Cindy, brother Jerome, and many nieces and nephews.
Born August 25, 1949, and raised in Dallas, Jim graduated from Bryan Adams High School. On his 18th birthday, Jim enlisted in the Marine Corps and served in Vietnam as part of the Alpha Company 1st Battalion 11th Marine Division. A proud Marine, his years were spent with distinction, and he received several medals and commendations for his dedication and bravery including the Combat Action Ribbon, Vietnam Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal. The discipline and patriotism he learned in the Marines never left Jim.
After returning from Vietnam, Jim received a BBA in Accounting from UT Arlington. Even with that degree, Jim couldn’t ignore the whispered calling of the sea that lingered long after his return from Vietnam. Memories of the ocean below and stars above helped to transform reminiscence into a love of scuba diving and a hugely successful private business representing scuba equipment manufacturers. A life of exciting adventure, exotic locales, and the sounds and sights of the sea led Jim to a lifetime of peace and healing.
We encourage you to share your stories and thoughts about Jim in one of the following places. The stories we’ve received have brought us immeasurable comfort.
