Jim was raised in Houston, TX and graduated from University of North Texas and received his Master’s and PhD in History from The Ohio State University.
Jim met his love, Linda Gilliam in 1972 and they were married the same year.
Jim was a lifelong learner and loved books, but nothing was more important to him than his family.
He is preceded in death by his son, Jason Philip Lee, his mother and father and his siblings Ruth, David, and Tom.
He is survived by his wife, Linda, daughter Jenna and daughter-in-law Julie.

A funeral service for Jim will be held Saturday, March 15, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at ST. MATTHEW UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 2414 Hitson Ln, Fort Worth, TX 76112. Following the funeral service will be a graveside service from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM at Moore Funeral Home, 1219 North Davis Drive, Arlington, TX 76012.
