

John was born on April 17, 1936, in San Antonio, Texas, to Annabel Ruth Shuler and Robert Cook. He was raised on the Southside of San Antonio and attended Tarrant County Junior College (TCJC).
A proud veteran, John served his country with honor for 38 years, achieving the rank of Colonel. He was a Gulf War veteran and dedicated his life to the values of duty, leadership, and service.
In 1957, John married the love of his life, Darlene Faye Wilson. Together they built a life rooted in love and family, raising two children. John also enjoyed a long and distinguished career at Air National Guard/ Air Force, where he worked as a Senior Airline Maintenance Technician for over 38 years.
He was preceded in death by his brother Bobby Cook, stepsister Dixie Shuler, father Robert Cook, stepfather Victor Shuler, and mother Annabel Shuler.
John is survived by his wife, Darleen Cook, his daughter Brenda Errico, son Michael Cook, and his grandsons, Ryan Cook and Austin Cook. He will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his country, and his work.
A visitation for John will be held on Friday, August 22, 2025 from 10 to 12 PM with a funeral following the visitation beginning at 12 pm at Moore Funeral Home, 1219 N. Davis Drive Arlington, TX 76012.
