Kathy Baxter, a cherished member of the Grand Prairie community, passed away at her home on December 12, 2023, at the age of 68. She was born in Gainesville, TX on May 19, 1955, at the age of 19 she met Allan Baxter and married on July 2, 1974. Kathy worked at Grand Prairie ISD as a manager in the food service for over 25 years.
Kathy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and compassion in the hearts of all who knew her. Her infectious laughter, radiant smile, and genuine desire to bring joy to others were just a few of the countless ways she touched the lives of those around her. In her free time, Kathy loved to read books, watch her children and grandchildren play sports, and spend cherished moments with her beloved family and friends.
Left to cherish her memory is her beloved husband, Allan Baxter, her children, Terri Martinez, Troy Baxter, Shannan Sutter, sons-in-law Joey Martinez and Chris Sutter. They will forever carry the love and lessons she bestowed upon them. Her grandchildren, Tristan Martinez, Chloe Martinez, Julian Martinez, Chelsey Leath, Zachary Shields, and Baylee Shields will fondly remember her nurturing spirit and unwavering support. They will always carry a piece of her kind heart with them.
Kathy is preceded in death by her father, Tom Jones, her mother, Pansy Morris. Their memories will forever be intertwined with Kathy’s, creating an everlasting bond.
Rest in eternal peace, Kathy. Your laughter, kindness and love will be deeply missed, but your spirit will continue to shine brightly, guiding us through the darkness.
