Margaret (Peggy) Kain Quirk passed away at the age of 94 on Thursday, March 26, 2026, in Arlington, TX. Peggy was the third of seven children born to John Michael and Margaret Beehan Kain on April 1, 1931, in Nashville, Tennessee.
Peggy graduated from Cathedral High School in June 1949 and worked for a short time at the Third National Bank. She met and later married Charles L. F. Quirk on October 12, 1957, at the Cathedral of the Incarnation in Nashville, TN. Charles and Peggy traveled across the country and to Spain while he proudly served his country during his twenty-year career in the United States Air Force. Upon Charles’ retirement from the USAF in 1971, the family settled in Arlington, TX where Charles and Peggy raised their five children and created life-long memories and friendships in a new community. Throughout her lifetime of adventures, Peggy was the ever supportive, loving, caring and tireless wife, mother and caregiver managing all the children’s school activities and homework, church services and events, doctor’s appointments, and household responsibilities. While her children were in school, Peggy committed to serving on numerous PTA boards of which she chaired meetings, organized fund-raising efforts, and advocated for children’s health and safety. After years of PTA service, she was recognized as a Life Member of Texas PTA. Peggy demonstrated her devotion to her Catholic faith by serving many years and numerous roles during her time at St. Matthews Catholic Church. She served as wedding coordinator, assisted with grief counseling, Catechism Teacher, Eucharistic Minister, Reader, and assisted in the church office. She was awarded Woman of the Year based on consistent dedication to her faith and support of the efforts of the catholic church.
Peggy’s pride and joy were her children Maggie, Charles (deceased in infancy), Stephen, James, Trisha and Jean Marie (deceased) and her two grandchildren Kendall and Shaun Quirk. The youngest child, Jean Marie, required Peggy’s endless strength and attention due to her cerebral palsy. Peggy made sure that even with her disability, Jean Marie was not treated any differently than the rest of the children. Peggy volunteered at the Easter Seal Society of Fort Worth during Jean Marie’s years of attendance.
Peggy will be remembered as a southern lady of grace and charm; loving, caring and selfless wife, mother and grandmother; her silent, yet resilient character; her service to others and the community; her smile, hugs and words of encouragement to others during difficult times; her faithful friendship amongst neighbors and friends; her devotion to her Catholic faith; and for thoughtful, constant prayers of health and happiness for her family and many friends. Heaven has truly welcomed an angel that will be watching over us all.
May the road rise to meet you, May the wind be always at your back, May the sun shine warm upon your face, The rains fall soft upon your fields, And until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of His hand - Irish proverb.
