

Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 15, 2010 at First United Methodist Church in Arlington following a family burial at Moore Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at Moore Funeral Home from 6 - 8 p.m.
Beth was born on June 23, 1929, in Hart, TX, to Jessie Edna Smitherman & William Fred Cox. She attended schools in Arlington and was in the AHS class of 1948. On September 3, 1949, Beth married James Hiett Goodwin. Together they had four children and have celebrated 60 years of marriage. Beth was a homemaker and a wonderful hostess to anyone that entered their home. The family lived in Tulsa, Oklahoma during the 60's & 70's and were active members of the Asbury United Methodist Church where she taught a preschool class. Beth and Jimmie traveled to various locations due to job assignments and were very active in the English speaking fellowships, while overseas, but their church home was always the Wesley Progressors at The First United Methodist Church of Arlington, TX. Beth was also an active member of the Class of 1948 AHS girls.
Beth is survived by her husband, Jimmie; her daughters Martha Coburn and husband, Steve of Denton, Texas and Virginia Edmundson of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and her sons James H. Goodwin, Jr. and his wife Tonia of Friendswood, Texas and John W. Goodwin of Florham Park, New Jersey; ten grandchildren, three great grandchildren; and her brothers Wayne Cox of Alberta, Canada and JD Cox of Colorado.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers Fred Jr., and Harold Cox.
