Marvin was raised in Grand Prairie, TX, and attended Arlington State College after graduating from Grand Prairie High School in 1951. He married his high school sweetheart, Dorlease (Dee) Tucker, in 1952. Together, they had three children — Sherry, Cindy, and Ron — as well as six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Marvin worked at Collins Radio, later known as Rockwell International, for more than 33 years, retiring as a supervisor of electronics manufacturing — a department that created microchips for space shuttles.
After their kids were grown, Marvin and Dee started traveling and enjoyed Hawaii, Las Vegas, and Colorado ski trips with their retired work buddies. Marvin always loved to tinker and build — from the home where he and Dee raised their family to tiny treehouses for the squirrels and raccoons they cared for on their multi-acre wooded property. He enjoyed life at home: tending to his vegetable garden, planning his next rock project, and watching Fox News or sports with the fireplace blazing in the den.
His family — especially his grandchildren — will always remember Grandad for his infectious laugh — it truly was the best; his always-full candy bowl; his unique ability to mash up words in the funniest way; and the generosity he showed toward his family and friends. He was a steady, beloved presence — a trusted safety net for all of us.
Marvin is preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Mabel Burton; his in-laws, Bessie and Gailen Tucker; and his son-in-law, James Michael Gaines. He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Dee Burton; his children: Sherry Gleason of Grand Prairie, TX; Cindy Gaines of Mansfield, TX; and Ron Burton of Plano, TX; his grandchildren: Jennifer Prishtina of Austin, TX; Matthew Twedell of New Braunfels, TX; Stephanie Gaines of Arlington, TX; Kristi Schwert of Minneapolis, MN; Michael Burton of Tulsa, OK; and David Burton of Lake Jackson, TX; his brother, Darrell Burton, and wife,
Doloris, of Arlington, TX; his brother- and sister-in-law, William and Shirley Allen of Winnsboro, TX; his niece, Melanie Wilfong of Aledo, TX; and his great-grandchildren: Alexander, Harrison, Benjamin, Jude, Olivia, Eliza, and Sophie.
