Michael Douglas Wheeler

Mike was born January 22, 1976, to Leon D. Wheeler and Phuong Thi Nguyen. He spent most of his youth in Texas, where he graduated from South Grand Prairie High School in 1994.

Mike married the love of his life and best friend, Cori Wheeler (Martinez), in 2005. They became parents to their beautiful daughter, Kylie, in 2011. Mike loved spending quality time with his family and close friends. He was a Christian, a faithful and loyal husband, a loving and nurturing father, a caring son, a kind and funny brother, and a loyal friend.

Mike was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy. He enlisted in 2004 and served four years on the USS Ramage (DDG-61), upon which he deployed to the Persian Gulf and Africa. He was also an instructor at Naval Station Norfolk. Mike attained the rank of ET1 (Electronics Technician and Instructor) before he was honorably discharged in 2012.

Mike and his family moved to NY, that same year. They bought a house in the country, where Mike raised animals, hunted and fished. When he wasn’t embracing the outdoors, Mike loved to read and travel.

Mike was a serial entrepreneur. He cherished the opportunity to mentor those who shared his passion for business. He was also active in youth sports and coached the modified football and baseball teams in the Wayne Central School District.

In addition to his wife, Cori, and daughter, Kylie, Mike is survived by his parents, Leon D. and Perly R. Wheeler; Phuong Thelen (mother), his sisters Alysia Rieg, Crystal Wright, and Brittany Wheeler; and his brothers James Wheeler and Bryan Wheeler.

In Texas, visitation is at 1pm on Monday, January 10, 2022, at Moore Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, 1219 North Davis Drive, Arlington, TX 76012. A funeral service and interment with full military honors will be held at the funeral home at 2 pm.

In New York, the Memorial Service for Mike has been rescheduled for Saturday, January 29, 2022, at 3877 N Main St, Marion, NY 14505 from 4pm to 7pm.
