Olena Atchison

Funeral: 10 a.m. Saturday at Moore Funeral Home, 1219 N. Davis Drive, Arlington. Interment: Moore Memorial Gardens. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Moore Funeral Home.

Olena was born in Weaver on May 7, 1920, to Arthur Harvey Davison and wife, Bertha. In the mid-1920s, the family moved to Sudan, where she eventually met her future husband, Chester Atchison. They married in 1944 and lived in Dallas where she studied cosmetology at Nielson's Beauty School. She owned and operated The Artistic Beauty Shop in Oak Cliff until the mid-1970s. Olena had a longtime interest in country music as the result of childhood friendships with the Bob Wills family that continued until her passing.

Olena was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and will be greatly missed.

Survivors: Son, Samuel H. Atchison and wife, Sandy; daughter, Valeria Copeland and husband, Chris; grandchildren, Matthew Atchison and wife, Karen, Michael Atchison, Kristal Hill, Angela Copeland, Dara Springer and husband, Clint, Diana Schermerhorn and husband, Michael, Cathy Rogers and husband, Clayton, Cindy Mauldin and husband, Don; and many great-grandchildren.
