I came to Kooken in 2001. She was one of  the nicest, sweetest person I met there. She treated me and my students with respect and admiration. She shared with me that she wanted to learn Spanish (and she did learn a little). She was always asking how to serve the bilingual students better. She wrote a counseling curriculum,  designed specifically for bilingual students, and won an AWARE grant for it. How I have missed her! She made everyone feel special. Thank you Ms. Patti.


Miss Patti was my neighbor and dear friend for several years at Hill Country retreat in San Antonio. I treasure my memories of our daily visits. I loved to listen to her stories of growing up ,and her travels with Tommy ,and her experiences I. her classroom. We laughed so much, enjoyed our trips to Bourne for lunch. I loved to watch her ZOOM out almost daily in her sports car.  I can’t forget her love and dedication to servicemen and women.  We loved watching the sales on QVC! She was truly a blessing in my life and will be missed! Rest In Peace, my dear friend.👍🙏🏻💕

Patti and I came to Kooken the same year, 1989. Before that she was teaching at Knox in Arlington. I was new and she took me under her wing. Patti was always helping others. She left the classroom to become the Counselor for the school. She created parent support groups that gave parents of children with disabilities a safe place to talk and share. 

Patti was a good friend to many.  She and I ventured off to the beach in Mexico for spring break one year. She had such a youthful spirit even though she as the same age as my mom. My family came to love both Miss Patti and Colonel Tom. They were the sweetest couple!  She and Colonel Tom were some of the first visitors to the hospital when Tucker was born. She gave great counsel to me as a fellow “boy mom.” 

I loved her stories of military life. She was so proud of her husband’s service and her son’s. I can picture in my mind her working with other military families at the airport. She had walked in their shoes and could be a source of comfort. 

Patti only saw only the good in people. She was great at looking past others’ shortcomings. I was thankful she looked past mine. She was all about building people up. She was a blessing to all who knew her!

Ms. Patti was my dearest friend. She was a kind, loving, caring, wonderful friend. I will forever miss her. She loved children and was the best counselor at Kooken.  She deeply cared for the military men and women and did all she could for them. Everyone that met her, loved her immediately.  She always thought of others before herself. I loved her very much. She was my bright light in this world always!! She is walking with our Lord. She is with Tommy!! I know she is well and happy. RIP Patti, I will see you again. ❤
