Phyllis Mae Nicholas was born on February 6, 1956, to Rayson Roy Nicholas and Nellie Lucille Strickland. She passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2023 in Fort Worth, Texas. Phyllis was the mother of four children and a proud grandmother and great-grandmother. She cared for her family dearly and always provided support and love to them. Phyllis was known for her joy, positivity, and kindness to many people. She was a school teacher for over twenty years and enjoyed helping the many students that crossed her path.
Phyllis loved and served Jesus the majority of her life, and her greatest desire was for more people to know Him. She cared deeply about sharing the Word of God, including those yet to be born. Phyllis, along with her sister, Anne Marie Wilson, wrote and recently published a book titled, “Welcome to Life! Teaching God's Word to the Child in the Womb.” Phyllis wanted people to know that even the child in the womb could be taught the Word of God. Passionate to share God's Word from the earliest possible moment, she often gave out copies of the book.
Phyllis loved beautiful scenery and being out in nature. She was always happy anytime she saw a squirrel, which was her favorite animal. She also enjoyed spending time with her dog, Tank.
Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents, Nellie and Rayson, her brothers, Rayson Jr. and John. She is survived by her four children, Amal, Sammy, Abraham, and Deena, seven grandchildren, one great-grandson, four sisters, two brothers, and many nieces and nephews.
“But I don’t care what happens to me, as long as I finish the work the Lord Jesus gave me to do. And this work is to tell the Good News about God’s gift of undeserved grace.” Acts 20:24
