Robert was born in Springfield, IL October 10, 1932 to Andrew J. and Mary Jane Bardsley Bird. He was in the U.S. Navy during the Korea “Conflict”. Robert graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University, Rutherford, NJ. He worked at Motorola in Schaumburg, IL as an Electrical Engineer. While at Motorola, he designed the first telephone company interconnected paging terminal. He was the Vice-President of Technical Operations for Ram Broadcasting in New York, New York and Dallas, TX. He later was the President of Bren Corporation in Dallas, TX and Lufkin, TX.
Robert and his wife, Nancy, had a passion for thoroughbred Horse Racing. A partnership with Jim and Carol Hutzel was created. They raised a number of prize winning horses.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Andrew Bird, George Bird and Thomas Bird, sisters Mary Clayton and Virginia “Gina” Kelch.
In addition to his loving wife of 35 years, Nancy Bird, he is survived by Daughters Robbyn Stanphill and husband Brian of Arlington, TX, Cindy Bird of Dallas, TX, Son, Robert A. Bird and wife Suzanne of Charlotte, NC and grandchildren, Devan Pool, Krista and Victoria “Tori” Bird.
