Bob & I were Health Dept Social Work Supervisors for several years until I retired in 1983.  He was a great friend and lots of fun.   Since then we have periodically kept in touch by phone and email.  I will miss him.  My love and thoughts are with his family.

I am praying for the repose of his soul.  Bob hired me for my first social work job.  He was a great supervisor to me, and I will remember him always.

I worked with Bob with the State for many years and he was my supervisor when I lost my job in 1986. He cried right along with me and the others who lost their jobs. He was a very sensitive man and really cared about people. The residents in the nursing facilities he surveyed loved him. He gave a great Resident Group Meeting! He was always the life of the party and I'm sure he still is! Though we haven't been in touch often, I will always remember him and miss him. Love you Bob! My deepest sympathies to Connie, his children and grandchildren, and other family and friends.

  As the youngest of five cousins, I was always the pesky little girl around all boys. All of the boys wanted to find ways to not have a tag along at our family gatherings.  They would do anything to find a way to get rid of me.  Bob was much older than myself and the others, and I'm sure he probably had these same thoughts when we got together as a family.  However, he never showed it.  He always had a smile and always tried to find something funny to say when he was around me.  As time went by and we all grew older, Bob was genuinely concerned about each of us and our families.  He still continued to have a smile, a funny saying, and an encouraging word to us all.  We didn't get to see each other often because of jobs, distances, and families.  When we did, he always wanted to catch up with news on each of us.  I wish we could have seen each other more often as we grew older to share stories and adventures.

  To Judy, Connie, Julie, Amanda, Kenny, Joe, and the rest of the family, my thoughts and prayers are with you at this time along with the rest of our family.

   To Bob, "rest in peace" my dear cousin, and know that you will forever be in our hearts and thoughts.  I'm sure you're with our dads and grandparents above smiling at us all, patiently waiting for another big family reunion one day in the future, when we shall all meet again.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Bob's family. I'm a better person for having known him and feel blessed to have been able to count him as one of my friends. He'll be missed by so many of us; he always had such a positive attitude and something comical to say; his sense of humor was priceless. He spoke so often of his family, you are blessed to have been loved by such a wonderful man.Our loss is heaven's gain. I know when I pass through the gates of heaven, I'll see him once again, and knowing "Elderbat", he'll be laughing and wearing his famous bat costume! May the Lord comfort your family and ease your pain with sweet memories. Bob was a treasure to his fellow master naturalists!

I worked with Bob for many years at the state office.  He always brightened our day.  You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.  I'm sorry for your loss.

Bob was my cousin, older by 4 years, which when you are a young teen of 13 or 14, makes a difference.  When I was a freshman in high school, he was a freshman in college.  So naturally he was a mentor to me in ways he probably never realized.  Vicariously from Bob I learned how to approach the “grown up” life.  When the family business was wholesale grocery brokerage, from Bob I learned the correct way to pull an order, load the truck, and run the route.  I also learned from Bob that Ian Fleming actually wrote a series of James Bond novels, and that they were incredibly more interesting than the films!!!  We shared a common fondness for our Grandfather Brannan – I was always taken with Granddad's collection of Open Road Stetsons (for the uninformed, that is the classic LBJ hat – if you knew our granddad, you'll remember he always wore one!).  Bob once wrote a loving tribute to Granddad Brannan that revolved around their shared appreciation for ice houses, fruit stands and choosing the just right watermelon!  Bob's middle name was William, my first name is the same – we both honor our grandfather – Roy William Brannan.

Bob became interested in the ancestry of his family.  He did a great deal of research in the Seay family background and we talked a number of times about the Brannan heritage.  This was a labor of love of Bob's, and I'm sure he was working on it to the end.  It is to my regret that we hadn't been able to share notes in the past couple of years.  His own father's name, Albert, is very important to the Brannans and can be traced to Scotland and Ireland.

Although we had been out of contact for a few years, we eventually reconnected as grown adults, communicating often on shared family business. 

I also want to observe that Bob was always an artist.  He created works of art in jewelry, but he also had an artistic way of creating dialogue with friends and colleagues.  I've shared with my cousin Joe, Bob's brother, my single best memory of Bob, which I will share here as well.  I have spent my life in a career in theatre production that eventually led to facility management.  My interest in theatre was more than likely due to an interest created in my earlier life by live theatre and an interest in the movies.  And probably the most influential film in my life was “Lawrence of Arabia”.  I saw it at an impressionable age, and it has always stuck with me as a touchstone.  And here is the connection –

Many of you know that Bob was a consummate musician, a master percussionist!  Bob could have easily chosen a career in music education/band direction, jazz, or classical music.  He was that good!  When I was in junior high, the Comanche High School Band played a concert for us in the Gym, under the direction of Jack King.  One of the pieces that they played was a suite of the themes from “Lawrence of Arabia”.  I remember Bob playing the timpani for that piece – the signature bars!!!!
I will cherish that always!!!!!.

I was on the same team with Bob at DADS. We worked together on numerous surveys and investigations over the years. Bob was like no other. The last few years Bob made jewelry, and I have one piece he made. 

Bob could always be counted on for something special for our events at work. Everyone looked forward to what he would surprise us with, and he never disappointed us.

Bob was so proud of his family and always had stories and pictures to show everyone. He will be missed by all.

Bob was a member of our high school graduating class. We had classes together, went on the senior trip together, and touched bases at various times through the years. Then  "elderbob" organized a chat group so that our class members could reconnect. Bob touched many lives, and each one of us is a better person for having known him. He leaves behind a bit of himself in each of us. Goodbye old friend, and go with God.

Oh my....so so many great memories growing up with Bob. Then a few years back he organized a chat group for our Class of 66 and reunited many of us again. Great guy who will missed by all. Love to you Connie and all the family.
