• Robert Brian Hicks, who everyone came to know and love as Bobby, passed away at his home in Arlington, Texas on December 3, 2017 after a short but valiant battle with cancer. Bobby was born in Beaumont Texas on May 24, 1967, and lived there with his parents, Glenn Hicks and the late John Hardon Hicks III, his sister Stephanie and brother Clarke. From a young age, he didn’t understand the meaning of the word “stranger.” He spent his youth playing baseball, football, riding his bike, playing golf, asking questions, and befriending everyone he came across. Bobby graduated from Forest Park High School in 1985.
Shortly after graduation, Bobby moved to Orlando Florida where he met the love of his life, Laurie Martinolich. The two married in 1993 and became the proud parents of three boys, Shea, Austin and Caleb. Bobby was an avid golfer who loved teaching his boys the game and the many life lessons that come with learning the game. He took his role as a father very seriously, and leaves his three sons with a countless number of important lessons, such as doing things right the first time; being well-mannered, and being independent.
Bobby enjoyed working with his hands, connecting people with one another, helping people figure things out, and just telling funny stories so he could get people to laugh. He was gifted with the ability of being able to talk to anyone, so by no surprise, he enjoyed much success in life as a salesman. To know Bobby is to love him, and most anyone who ever met Bobby remembers him fondly. His infectious curiosity, genuine love of people, and big welcoming smile brought him in contact with thousands who came to know him as “friend.”
Bobby is survived by his wife of 24 years, Laurie Martinolich Hicks of Arlington, Texas; his sons Shea Hicks and fiancee Bailey Escamilla, Austin Hicks and fiancee Abby Kaiser, and Caleb Hicks. He also leaves behind his mother Glenn, sister Stephanie and brother Clarke.
