Roy Estill Miller III

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Iva (nee Johnson); his son, Roy Eben; his daughter-in-law Sara; and his grandsons Maddux, Kellan and Vaughan. Additional immediate surviving family members include his siblings Lee, Barbara, Martha, and Bette, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Matthew, and his parents, Roy Estill Miller Jr. and Genevieve Shields.

Roy was born in Spartanburg, South Carolina on September 2, 1947. He attended Lufkin High School and graduated in 1966. He attended Baylor University, graduated in 1970 with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. He married Iva in Waco, TX on September 5, 1970. Following graduation, Roy enlisted in the Navy. He served both in active duty and in the Naval Reserves, for 30 years retiring in the year 2000 with the rank of Captain.

Roy had a successful career in the warehouse distribution and logistics industry and lived in Arlington, TX for 40 years. He pursued many hobbies, including genealogy and was an avid baseball card collector. After he and his wife retired to Whitney, TX, they were active in their local animal rescue organization and a board member in his homeowner’s association.

His funeral service will take place on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at 10am at Moore Funeral Home in Arlington. The Reverend Dr. Harry Lucenay will officiate.
