Sammie was born August 25, 1936, in Paris, Texas to Vernon and Nora Bray. Sammie graduated from Amarillo High School in 1955. He married Janette Johnson in June of 1957. They enjoyed square dancing, camping, and traveling to the mountains. Sammie was known for his unconditional love and devotion to his family. He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather who loved his children, grandchildren, great grandchild, and dogs dearly. Sammie will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Sammie is survived by his daughter, Janet and husband, Dennis Stiebel of Arlington; son, Jim and wife Lisa Bray of McKinney; eight grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests, with gratitude, that memorials be made to High Plains Food Bank in Amarillo, Texas or to a favorite children’s charity of your choice.
