Samuel Michael Shahid

Waiting to greet him at the golden gates are many loved ones including his mother and father - Michael and Victoria Shahid, his beloved wife Ellen Shahid, sister, Grace Shahid, brother John Shahid and nephew Nabil Shahid.

Samuel was born to Michael and Victoria Shahid on March 21, 1935 in Egypt. Later moving to Beirut, Lebanon, where he would eventually meet the love of his life and future wife, Ellen Nashif.

While in Beirut, Dr. Shahid was a teacher at Arab Baptist Theological Seminary. He excelled in Biblical Theological studies and Islamic Studies. Upon moving to the states, he became a graduate of the University of Chicago.

Dr. Shahid was an ordained minister of the Gospel, sharing the good news of Jesus Christ all around the world. An author of many books, a professor at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and the founder of Good News for The Crescent World. Dr. Shahid sought to share the love of Jesus with all.

Dr. Shahid moved to the United Stated in October of 1976 from Beirut, Lebanon, to protect his family from the hostilities of the region. After spending the first five years in Chicago, Illinois. He moved his family to Fair Haven, New Jersey in 1982, where he was tasked with translating the Old Testament into modern Arabic.

Eventually, he would move to Grand Prairie, Texas in 1993 after taking the position of professor in the Missions department of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Fort Worth, Texas.

Dr. Shahid was a faithful member of Fielder Road Baptist Church, Arlington, Texas, for many years. And was a faithful member and leader, as well as at times, interim-pastor of the Arabic Christian Fellowship in Ft. Worth, Texas.

A dedicated husband, and loving father, Dr. Samuel Shahid was married to Ellen Shahid for 41 years, and is survived by his son Michael Shahid, his two daughters, Mona Shahid-Moore and May Shahid, daughter-in-law Tifany Shahid, grand-daughter, MarthaEllen, son-in-law Shane Moore;his two sisters, Lydia and Najla Shahid, great nephew Travis Shahid, nephew, Rick Shahid and his wife Pearl Shahid, and their 2 kids - Jenna and Josh Shahid.
