Catherine graduated from Sunset High School in Dallas in 1937 and attended TSCW, now TWU, in Denton. She served in the Air Force Reserve, was called to active duty with the 443 Troop Carrier Wing, Grand Prairie during the Korean Crisis in 1952. Catherine met her future husband, Cdr. Forrest C. Borgstedt, USN. When he was assigned to Bell Helicopter, they married in 1954.
From 1954 to 1964 as a Navy wife, Catherine lived with her husband on Whidbey Island, WA, Philippine Islands, Washington DC and Naples, Italy.
Catherine volunteered with the Red Cross during WWII, making sandwiches and greeting wounded personnel returning from North Africa as they landed at Love Field. After her husband’s retirement, she volunteered for 14 years at the US Navy Dispensary in Grand Prairie. She then volunteered 30 years with Arlington Memorial Auxiliary. Catherine was a lifelong Methodist and a founding member of New World United Methodist Church in Arlington.
Catherine was an avid reader, reading one or two books a week. Genealogy was her hobby, researching court houses, libraries, church records and cemeteries in Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Texas, Tracing her Ball family to the 1960’s and the Borgstedt family to the mid 1600’s.
Preceded in Death by her parents John R. and Alberta Ball, husband, Forrest C. Borgstedt, brother, John R. Ball, Jr. and Sister Mary Helen Reynolds. Catherine is survived by daughters Carol Kross (John) of Roswell, NM and Sarah Shelton (Mark) of Ft. Worth, TX. Grandchildren; Nicole Shelton, Matthew Espinosa, Lauren Espinosa, Kimberlee Lowry (Drew) and great grandchildren; Madison and Logan Curl, Jayden Johnson, Liam and Harper Lowry, sister-in-law Beverly Ball, niece Judy Prather (Harold).

Services will be held Thursday March 7th, 10:00 a.m., Moore Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 1219 N. Davis Dr., Arlington TX.
