Troy was born in Lindsay, Oklahoma on September 21, 1942. He served in the U.S. Army, spending time at Fort Polk in Louisiana. Troy was employed at Vought for 43 years and enjoyed spending time as a Scout Troop Leader. He is preceded in death by his parents William and Willie Mae Short, two brothers, Avon Short and W.C. Short, and one sister, Marie Rodgers.
Survivors include his wife Doris of 43 years; two sons: Kyle (Shawna) of Azle, and Derek (Marion) of Arlington; and his sister Nora Johnson of Perryton, Texas; and sister and brother-in-laws Mary Ann Adcock (Kenneth), Janice Holley (Bill), and Dennis Nortman (Micky), Charlie Nortman (Fay); and sisters-in-law Della Turner and Mildred Burt.
