

ARLINGTON -- Ural Nelson Sherrill, 89, passed away Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013. Service: 3 p.m. Monday in Moore Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation: 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Moore Funeral Home. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Mission Arlington, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or the charity of your choice. Nelson was born April 19, 1923, in Cisco, the oldest of six children born to thew Rev. Ural and Myrtle Sherrill. He served in the United States Navy Reserve from 1942 to 1945, and graduated from McMurry College in Abilene. He was an accountant in the trucking industry and retired from C&H Transportation in Dallas in 1988. He married his wife of 46 years, Frances E. Timmons, in 1956 and lived in Albuquerque, N.M., then relocated to Arlington in 1966. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Frances; sisters, Betty Helwig and Sherry Powell; and brother, Marvin Sherrill. In 2004, he married Eleanor G. Smith of Fort Worth, his loving companion in his final eight years of life on earth. Survivors: Wife, Eleanor; son, Paul and wife, Cindy, of Arlington; daughters, Mary Johnson of Dallas and Juanita Hess of Portland, Ore.; stepdaughter, Shawn Barrett and husband, Dan, of Houston; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Joyce Parrish of Kansas City, Mo.; and brother, Tommy of Dalhart.
