Vida Louise Little

Vida Louise Little, 85, of Arlington Texas, passed away July 8. 2022. Vida was born February 5, 1937 to Wiley and Anna Hill in West City, Illinois. She was the last of eight children. Vida graduated from Benton Consolidated High School in 1955. In December 1956 she married Harry Parkhill at North Benton Baptist Church, in Benton, Illinois. Harry’s naval service and subsequent career in the Property and Casualty Insurance industry took them to San Diego, California, Illinois, Missouri, Georgia and Texas. They divorced in 1979 while living in Ft. Worth, Texas.

Vida attended the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas and graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Social Work in December 1983. After graduation she moved to Wichita Falls, Texas and started her career as a Social Worker at the North Texas State Hospital working with adolescents. She met Ed Little while attending First Christian Church in Wichita Falls, and they were married from 1985 until Ed’s death in 1995.

In 1996 Vida moved to Arlington, Texas to be closer to family. She enjoyed attending her grandsons’ activities. She also volunteered as an Art Docent with AISD, tutored 4th graders in reading, and was active with a Computer Users group for seniors. Vida was a member of First Christian Church where she participated in many activities including Vacation Bible School and a Book Club.

Vida is survived by her son Mike Parkhill and wife Faye of Arlington, Texas; daughter Nancy Taylor and husband Jim of Gordon, Texas. Grandsons Bryan Taylor and wife Jessica, Matthew Taylor and wife Cassandra, Paul Taylor and Steven Taylor and granddaughters Kathleen Thompson and husband Ian and Laura Parkhill. Great grandchildren John Taylor, Ariadne Thompson and Michael Parkhill.

Vida was preceded in death by her husband Ed Little, mother Anna Hill; father Wiley Hill; sisters Lola Love, Chesta Pinkham, Annabell Bouckhuyt and Rosalie Hill; brothers Lloyd Hill, Howard Hill and Charles Hill; nephews Jim Hill and Gary Bouckhuyt.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, August 27th at 11am at First Christian Church 910 S Collins St, Arlington, TX 76010. Burial will be at Masonic and Odd Fellows Cemetery in Benton, Illinois on September 24th.
