William Tracy Nevius, 82, of Arlington, TX passed from this life to the next on Friday, February 23, 2024 at Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital after leading a life dedicated to the care of his family and to the service of his Lord and Saviour.
Bill was born on April 10, 1941 in Emporia, Kansas. He graduated from Mineral Wells High School in 1959 and served in the US Army stationed at Fort Benning, Georgia and in Korea. He later graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington with a degree in Accounting, and worked as a CPA in Arlington for many years.
Bill was a loving husband to his wife Anita, selflessly attending to her needs in her final years, and a caring father to his sons Jason and Benjamin. He attended First Christian Church of Arlington and North Side Baptist Church and was a founding member of both Lamar Baptist Church and the Dwelling Place. Together with Anita, he taught 5th and 6th grade Sunday School and Awanas for many years. He also ministered to inmates in the Arlington city jail. Bill shared the Gospel of Christ throughout the world on mission trips to Russia, Ukraine, Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia, Ghana, Brazil, Bolivia, Belize, Mexico, and more. Those mission trips were his great passion. He also supported many other Christian ministries, most notably Maranatha Christian Mission in Nicaragua.
Following Anita’s passing, Bill invited his sister Linda to live in his home, and they provided mutual care to each other for several years. He lived his last two active years at Morada Lake Arlington, making new friends and especially enjoying the company of his dear friend Ann.
Bill loved spending time with family at their cabin in Colorado. He loved cars, especially 1957 Chevy’s, and he enjoyed feeding the stray and feral cats around his home who would surround his feet at feeding times.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred Irwin and Muriel Estelle Smeltzer Nevius, and his wife of almost 49 years, Anita Marie Pulis Nevius.
Survivors: Sons, Jason and his wife Mei-Leng Nevius of Arlington and Benjamin Nevius and his partner William Gordon of London, UK; sister, Linda Groves; brothers-in-law, James and his wife Janis Pulis and Tom and his wife Diane Pulis; his dear friend, Ann Kruger; nieces; nephews; and by many more who knew and loved him.
