Woody was born in Seymour on Oct. 5, 1916. In March 1938, he married the love of his life, Mary.
Woody had a true entrepreneurial spirit, which lasted throughout; selling anything from fireworks to watermelons. Woody owned and operated the Rainbow Grill before purchasing the old Cooper building where he started a small pawn shop in the '50s. This small shop soon grew, occupying the entire building; becoming the only known pawn shop with a drive through.
Woody's love for fishing prompted him to build a three-story home in the Texas valley. Woody continued his love of golf and spent nearly 20 years perfecting his game.
He was preceded in death by his wife, stepfather, father, mother, sister, brother and half brother.
Survivors: Daughters, Wanda Powers, Rosemary Cooper; grandchildren, Cary Powers, Rachelle Powers, Cheri Morgan; great-grandchildren, Garen Powers, Wesley Peters, Charles and Brandon Braun; stepgrandchildren, Faun Franklin and Larry Powers; and finally his good friend and caregiver, Ethel Glazner.
