She was fearless in her love for family as a dedicated matriarch and devoted to her faith, church and community.
She peacefully passed away in the arms of her sons on January 3, 2022.
Born June 14, 1949, in Columbia, Mississippi, Zenobia was raised by her loving Aunt Sallie Pittman. She discovered a love of the piano while a student at Piney Woods School and attended Tougaloo College and Jackson State University, where she was on the front lines advocating for civil rights in Mississippi.
Zenobia worked as a shift leader at General Motors Willow Run in Detroit, Michigan, and later moved her family to Arlington, Texas, where she worked at General Motors Assembly and retired after 27 years.
Her childhood love of music never wavered, as she continued to play for ministries and teach piano lessons. She was a devoted member of Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church, where she served as the principal musician and choir director. She led the music ministry for all Masses and devotional services.
Zenobia is survived by her children, Bethany, Philip and Shadston; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandson. Affectionately known as "Ms. Z," she left a legacy of love, laughter and optimism and will be remembered for always viewing the world through her rose-colored glasses.
