Anne E. Edwards

AUBURN: Anne Elizabeth (Slamin) Edwards went peacefully to her Heaven on Tuesday August 20, 2013 to be with her mother. She passed away due to a chronic heart condition. Anne was the wife of Burleigh L. Edwards, having been joined together for 67 years. She was born in Boston, MA on November 7, 1924 the daughter of the late Cornelius and Evelyn (Norton) Slamin. She moved to Belmont, MA in the early 1930’s where she attended local schools and was a graduate of Belmont High School, class of 1942. She met her Burleigh through a neighbor when he was attending Burdett College. Upon his return from the Army in January 1946, they were married on May 26. They bought a Cape Cod bungalow on a sea side location with a spit of land that is in Fairhaven, known as Sconticut Neck. They moved back to Maine in 2002. Anne will always be remembered for her love of classical music and operas, traveling, which includes 20 cruises, dancing and spending time on the beach. She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Burleigh Edwards of Auburn, and numerous cousins that are spread out all over the country. She was happy to renew a wonderful closeness to one of her cousins, Retired Working Superior Court Judge, his honor Robert Clifford. She also leaves behind a cousin to her husband, Gloria (Winton) Hall and her husband Quentin Hall. They have been so helpful in so many ways. Visiting Hours will be held on Friday from 4-7pm at the funeral home. A Liturgy of the Word service will take place on Saturday at 11am also at the funeral home followed by a committal service and interment at Strickland Cemetery in Livermore Falls.
