

AUBURN - David Cutter passed away on December 13, 2011, following a brief illness. Born in Waltham, MA, son of Howell and Marion (Nickerson) Cutter, he moved to Maine as a young child. He grew up in Auburn and attended local schools, graduating from Edward Little High School in 1959. David joined the Naval Reserves at the age of 17. He was awarded a naval ROTC scholarship which allowed him to attend Ohio State University. He graduated with a major in business administration in 1963. He then attended naval supply school in Athens, GA. After graduation from the program, he was assigned to the USS Belknap which was currently undergoing construction at Bath Iron Works. For his final naval tour of duty, he served as supply officer in Cutler, ME, where he was awarded a special commendation for a cost reduction program that saved the command a considerable amount of money. He was honorably discharged as a lieutenant. He married Kathryn (Pombriant) Cutter in 1965. Following his naval career, he returned to Waltham, MA, to work for Honeywell. The couple returned to Maine shortly after and David began work at Geiger. He was employed with the company for over thirty years and was one of the founding members of Central Maine Personnel Managers Association in 1972. During his career, he felt privileged to also serve on the board of directors for Pathways, Inc. In later years, David enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his family, especially his three grandchildren. David is survived by his wife, Kathryn, of Auburn, two daughters and their husbands, Mary and Bruce Hogan, of Ballston Spa, NY, Susan and Daniel Landry of Longmeadow, MA, and three grandchildren, Kathleen and Steven Hogan and Emma Landry. He is also survived by his sister and her husband, Sandra and John Shaw, two brothers and their wives, Paul and Janet Cutter and Michael and Paula Cutter, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and brother, Peter Cutter. CUTTER, David L. 12/13/11 Funeral services will take place at The Fortin Group Funeral Home, 217 Turner St. in Auburn on Saturday, January 14, 2012, at 11:00 am.
