It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved father who went to be with his savior Jesus Christ on February 14th 2025. We rejoice at his happy reunion on Valentine’s Day with his wife Gayle Fish whom he had been greatly missing since her passing in 2020.
Donald was born on April 7, 1941 to his parents Forest Fish and Yvonne Fish in the town of Turner, ME. He attended and graduated from Leavitt Institute whereupon he enlisted in the United States Air Force becoming a meteorologist. He and his family traveled throughout the U.S. going from Alaska to Maine and many stops in between. He retired after twenty years and became an inspector in the nuclear power industry for a short period and then decided to return to Maine, where he went to work for Maine Central Railroad. He retired from the railroad after twenty years and took a part time job at the Turner Transfer Station.
Donald was passionate about the outdoors. An avid hunter, he prioritized deer season and had the dream of going on a moose hunt with his sons before he passed. A dream which he was able to realize.
He was ferociously loyal to his country and family with a strong sense of right and wrong. His heart was huge and welcoming. He never complained when his wife brought home several young ladies over the years who were struggling in life and needed a home and a family. He simply opened his heart and home, shouldered the responsibility, and soldiered on.
He is predeceased by his parents Forest Fish and Yvonne Fish, and his brother Walter Earnest Fish. He is survived by his brother Forest Alan Fish; a sister in law Mary Fish, his son Kevin R. Fish and daughter in law Kate Fish; and their children, Isaac and Kelsay Fish; his son W. Forrest Fish and daughter in law Tina Fish; his daughter Sarah Arielle Lindstrom-McLaughlin and her husband Kevin, and their daughter Cadence Mclaughlin, as well as his nieces, Darlene Turnage, Patti Schjenken, Melissa Churchill, Dannielle Brown, and one nephew Matthew Fish.
A Funeral Service for Donald will be held on Saturday, March 1st at 11AM at the East Auburn Baptist Church located at 560 Park Avenue Auburn, ME 04210
In lieu of flowers Don would ask you all to be strong, be loyal, love your families, believe in God, and show courage. If you don’t know what to do, decide to do the right thing, even if it costs you; because these are the things that matter.
Arrangements are under the care of The Fortin & Pinette Group Funeral Home | 217 Turner Street Auburn, ME 04210 | (207) 783-8545
