Lewiston - Donald K. Schrock, Jr. 53, formerly of Jay passed away at Central Maine Medical Center following complications from life-long Hypogammaglobuliemia. Don was born, July 27, 1959 in N. Tonawanda, NY, son of Don and Jan Schrock of Winthrop. He moved to Jay, July 1976, when his father was transferred from International Paper Mill in Tonawanda, NY to the Jay mill. He received his Associates degree in Architectural Engineer from Central Maine Community College in June, 1981. He was employed by Rae Associates until 1984, at which time; he accepted an entry level position at International Paper, Androscoggin Mill in Jay. Over the next 28 years, Don learned the paper making process inside and out, was often being sought out by management to trouble shoot a problem with a downed piece of equipment or perfect the paper quality.
Don was a member of Bronzeback Maniac Fishing Club until his disability prevented him from participating in Club tournaments and activities. He was an avid hunter as well. An avid fan of the Buffalo Bills, Buffalo Sabres and Boston Red Sox, he often discussed stats and plays with his father, sister and step-son Thomas. His 2 Shelties, Shasta and Kori provided never ending entertainment and companionship. He married the former Sylvia Janelle, August 11, 1997. Until recently, they made their home in Jay. He embraced the role of step-dad and was always willing to give encouragement, support and love unconditionally. He was a positive role model, who taught through his actions, rather than words.
