Ellen Suzanne Broas

Born October 8th, 1953, Ellen is the oldest daughter of James and Mary Lawlor. Raised in a military family, Ellen moved around a lot as a child. She lived in Ulm Germany on two separate occasions, and once in Baumholder Germany. During this time, she travel to multiple European countries, where she visited many historical sights, including castles and palaces, which she loved. She started high school in Baumholder Germany, where she meet her future husband Stephen. She completed her senior year at Edward Little High School in Auburn Maine, graduating in 1971. Her and Stephen were married on June 26th 1971, at the Universalist church on Pleasant St. in Auburn.

Throughout the years she was employed by Mammoth Mart, Zayre, JC Penney, West Business Systems. Then Clover Healthcare for over 17 years.

In later years, Ellen attended Kaplan University where she earned her bachelor’s degree in early childhood education. She graduated with top honors in 2012.

Ellen was a lifetime member and Past President of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW Post 1603 in Auburn, and worked with the Junior Girls Unit. Ellen was a long time member of Pine Cone Chapter #26 (Auburn) and Electa Chapter #2 (Bowdoinham) of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a Past Matron of Pine Cone and Electa Chapters. She served in the Grand Chapter as Grand Ruth, as a District Deputy Grand Matron of district 4, and Grand Representative to the state of New York. Her love for the Eastern Star increased after her parents both joined and the four of them traveled throughout the state of Maine, the Northeast and Canada.

Ellen also ran the Latchkey program, know as Kid’s Corner for High Street Congregational Church and the United Baptist Church in Lewiston.

She was a member and treasurer of the 6th Street Congregational Church in New Auburn.

Ellen is survived by her husband Stephen. Her son Michael and wife Cindy, her son Christopher and wife Danielle and son Richard. Three grandchildren Andrew, Addison and Alice.

She is survived by three brothers Ronald, Donald and James Lawlor. And sister Heidi McIntosh.

Ellen is predeceased by her parents, Mary and James Lawlor, and a sister, Julianna Lawlor.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday May 30th, 2026 at the Masonic Hall in Auburn. Located at 1021 Turner Street Auburn, Maine. It will be held from 1pm to 6pm. Program starting at 2.
