

Auburn - Henry R. Leblond, 80 of Lewiston, passed away Monday, Nov. 12, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer and Alzheimer's disease with his immediate family by his side. A lifelong resident of Lewiston, he was born August 21, 1932 son of the late Jean and Marie Jeanne (Champagne) Leblond. He began his education at St. Peter's School and spoke fondly of his service as an altar boy. He graduated from St. Dominic High School where he played hockey all four years. Henry served in the military as an Army corporal working the front line in the Korean Conflict. Always with a ready smile, he enjoyed people and good conversation. He was an avid reader of newspapers and kept up with current events. He was skilled at the building trades and enjoyed sketching and calligraphy. Henry loved a good card game and was always ready when the call came to join a poker game. He was the consummate salesman and was employed at Louie's Men's Store, Central Distributors and Lewiston Bottle Gas. He is survived by his wife of 56 years,Fernande (Levesque) Leblond of Lewiston; three daughters, Anita Fournier and husband Thomas of Portland, Diane Rohman and husband Patrick of Auburn and Julie Anne Leblond of Lewiston; a granddaughter, Sarah Rohman of Auburn; a step brother Robert Cote of Atkinson, NH. A special niece Irene Dearborn and husband George and their children, Beth and Becca of Virginia. Together with his wife, Henry opened his heart and his home and extended his family with three foster children, Flora Cyr and husband Rene of Turner, Florence Berube and partner David Chisholm of Portland and Bert Ringuette and partner Kim Ringuette of Winthrop. Henry was well liked by many and was especially happy spending time with his family and visiting with his cousins, many nieces and nephews and friends. He was predeceased by a brother, Roger Leblond in 1960.

Visitation at the funeral home Thursday from 2-4, 6-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 11:00 AM at Holy Family Church.
