

Auburn - Richard "Bert" Rocheleau, 84 of New Auburn, passed away Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013 at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice.He was born in Lewiston, July 14,1928 son of the late William and Aurore Doyon Rocheleau. He was educated in Lewiston schools graduating from Lewiston High School in 1946. While in high school he played on the hockey team. He served in the U.S. Army, 1st Infantry Division, in Bad Tolz, Germany from 1946 to 1948 and played trumpet in the Army band. Bert was married April 29, 1961 at St. Louis Church to Noella D. Boisvert. In his younger years Bert played trumpet in many local bands and orchestras. He was the owner of Maynard's Shoe in downtown Lewiston from 1979 to 1999. He served in the State Legislature representing the City of Auburn in the 103rd, 104th and 105th legislature. Bert was an avid golfer and a member of Fairlawn Country Club for 38 years and the New Auburn Senior Citizens as well as St. Louis Church. He is survived by his wife Noella of Auburn; a daughter Louise Carpentier and husband Mark; two granddaughters, Jacqueline and Valerie Carpentier all of Portland; a sister-in-law, Lyse Rocheleau, nieces Diane Allen, Michelle Henshaw all of Brunswick and Karyn O'Connor of Tampa, Florida; nephews, William and Robert Rocheleau of Brunswick. Visitation at the funeral home Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 11AM at St. Louis Church.
