Velma Leonis (Jordan) Ritchie Michaud sadly passed away on november 9, 2024 at 4AM with family by her side from a sudden onset of an abdominal blockage after surviving a major stroke on October 3rd, 2022 in which she made an incredible comeback with the love and support of her family and friends. A special thank you to Dana Frazier for his dedication to his longtime love, allowing her to be able to stay in their home after her stroke with him and her 4 dogs that she loved dearly, Bronson, Andrew, Teddy Brooke and Georgia.
Velma's aka Val's home was open to all and absolutely loved a houseful of laughter at any given time of day or night she was known as "ma" to many! Her given name was Velma which she absolutely disliked and used Val her whole adulthood she was considered big Val and I as her daughter was little Val....ma was beyond selfless in all ways! She was the one that always answered her door and always answered her phone calls or texts. the last thing she would think of was herself she would make sure her friends, family and even strangers had important things if needed aka food, heat and was big on donating.
Anyone who had the privilege of knowing her knows this! Ma absolutely loved her country music her George Jones, Conway Twitty, Loyretta Lyn etc and enjoyed dancing often in her in her cowgirl boots and cowgirl hats in which her second marriage to Ivan Michaud was a country western wedding! The best ever! Her wish was be able to live on a ranch down south with all the dogs that needed a home and lots of love!
Family was the most important thing in her life she would have visited all on a daily basis if she physically could have. In fact she often said one of her dreams were to have the whole family live together in a huge old farmhouse. Ma had a nickname (Rose) from the golden girls meaning she was just like her in many ways! If anyone knows rose from the golden girls knows exactly what we mean. Ma's career started as a telephone operator in lewiston for many years which she enjoyed so much sadly life events at that time forced her to resign ma was one of the most hardest working woman I have yet to know raising us and never allowing us to go without. All of our needs and many wants were always met.
Before retiring her remainder of her work years was being a caregiver in their own homes working with the best crew and becoming great lifelong friends to many of them. ma loved her garage sales and going out to eat and as mentioned, visiting with family.
After her stroke her hobbies were her programs aka her Little House on the Prairie her Golden Girls and Pitbulls Parolees and her Desperate Housewives she would have given anything to have met Tia from the series Pitbulls and Parolees which she idolized for her love and care of dogs.
She made us all laugh so much yet stood strong when needed. There is so much more to say about this loving selfless woman many stories to share, life events etc which will do at her celebration of life on a later date.
