

Born on June 28, 1944, in Lewiston to Ingram D. White and Ethel F. Tuttle. Burke graduated from Edward Little High School and served in the United States Army. He later became a self-employed, skilled woodsman and employee of the Auburn Public Works. Burke was a member of the New Auburn Social Club, American Legion, Eagles Club, and Teamsters Union. He enjoyed playing golf and darts, picking up “junk” to tinker with, woodworking, putting his tractor to good use, spending the winters in his Florida home, and was an avid gardener and bird enthusiast.
Burke was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He was most proud of his family and some of his fondest memories were spent in his role as “Pupa/ Pops.” Burke loved unconditionally. To know him was to be loved by him and you couldn’t help but love him back.
He is survived by his daughters, Donna Varga and husband, Miloslav of Florida and Julie White-Smith and husband, George (Ed) of Durham, and his sons, Scott Bussiere and companion, Bonnie of Litchfield, John Bussiere and wife, Patty of Minot and Robert Bussiere and wife, Lisa of Georgia; many grandchildren; a growing number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, four sisters, Joyce Molinari of Massachusetts, Holly Johnson, Doris Parent and her life long partner, Robert and Hattie Sauceda and her husband Jose all of whom reside in Maine. Sister-in-laws, Lucille Spencer of Durham, Dorothy White of Durham, Rhoda Mckinley of Ohio, Patricia Turcotte of Litchfield, and Wendy Herrick of Otisfield, and brother-in-laws Ben Bean of New Hampshire, Clifford Bean of Ohio, and Dexter Jordan of Hebron and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, stepmother, Lillian White, wife, Minnie White, whom he married in 1995, brothers, Ingram White Jr., John White, Richard White, Floyd (Timmy) Small and wife, Kathy, and sisters, Linda Paszkowski and husband, Mark Paskowski, and Nancy Witherall, son Clifford Bussiere, daughter-in-law Suzanne (Sue) Bussiere, sister-in-laws Annette Savage and Beverly Grondin and former wife Ruth A. White.
The family sincerely thanks the dedicated medical staff at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Maine Medical Center, Maine Veterans Home, and the Gosnell Hospice House for their exceptional care and compassion during this difficult time and to Todd and Michelle Harrison of Grey Cost construction for making it possible for him to be independent in his final months.
Visitation will be held Saturday February 15 from 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM at The Fortin & Pinette Group 217 Turner St., Auburn, a funeral service is to follow at 4:00PM at The Fortin & Pinette Group 217 Turner St., Auburn, and is to be buried at Pine Street Cemetery, Auburn in the spring.
