Wilma D. Dow

Wilma was born on August 01, 1944 in Stoneham, Massachusetts. She was the daughter of Roland & Margaret (Verge) Martin. She attended local schools and graduated from Wakefield High in Massachusetts.

In her working years, she worked for Pineland Center in New Gloucester. Wilma received many certificates related to her field of work. She took much pride in her accomplishments. Her family was also proud of her work ethic and dedication to her clients over the years. Wilma stayed at Pineland Center until her retirement. She then happily became a full-time grandmother (Meme).

Wilma had the privilege of living and experiencing multiple places around the United States with her husband and his occupation. They finally planted their roots in Auburn, Maine.

She had a great sense of humor and spent many moments laughing and joking with her daughters and granddaughter, Shelby.

In her free time, she loved watching football. She was an avid Patriots fan and would argue with anyone who didn't believe Tom Brady could pull it off. The true loves of her life were her grandchildren. She cherished every moment with them. Family time was most important to her.

Wilma was not only a mother to her two daughters, but also to their childhood and her lifelong friends. She held a very special place in her heart for them all. She always had her door and arms open for them. Her home on Broad Street was a common hang out and place to gather.

Wilma is predeceased by her parents and her loving husband William K. Dow (1991).

She leaves behind her daughters Dorothy (Jones) Maroon and husband George (Eddie) and Angela (Dow) LaFrinea. She is also survived by her grandchildren Shelby LaFrinea and Dodge LaFrinea as well as her great grandchild Emersyn Ray Dickinson.

The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of the staff at Oddfellows and Rebekahs Home of Maine for their amazing care and kindness over the few years Wilma spent there. Angela grew very fond of the staff and never worried about Wilma. They are also very grateful to how welcoming they were to Angela's daily visits to the home. Lastly, they would like to thank Andwell Hospice House for keeping Wilma comfortable until the end so she could stay at Oddfellows where she was so content.

Visitation for Wilma will take place on Sunday, March 2nd at The Fortin & Pinette Group in Auburn from 1PM to 3PM with a Funeral Service at 3PM.
