Mrs. Aurora Reyes, 92, passed away peacefully Thursday July 23, 2015, at St. David’s South Austin Medical Center. Aurora was born July 29, 1922, in Houston, Texas, the daughter of Felix and Francisca Rodriguez. She was united in marriage to Angel Reyes Jr. on March 30, 1957. They were married for 44 wonderful years. He preceded her in death on December 17, 2001.
Aurora grew up during the great depression which was compounded by the death of her parents at a very young age. She persevered, left school and worked as a seamstress and became a step-in mother to her younger sisters. After Aurora married, she primarily became a homemaker but made time to finish her High School education and continued working part-time until retirement in 1990.
During her retirement, she supported her husband with his involvement in the Catholic War Veterans Organization. Aurora was a member of the ladies auxiliary. Angel and Aurora enjoyed their retirement together, mostly at home, but still enjoyed a few trips to places like Hawaii, Las Vegas, Grand Canyon, and Mexico.
In addition to her husband, Aurora is preceded in death by her sister Evangelina Ramos. She is survived by her daughter Mary Frances Gomez; sons Angel Reyes III and Robert Reyes; and his significant other; Lucy Paredes. She is also survived by her grandson; Christopher Gomez and sisters; Leandra Martinez and Margarita Guevara.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 29, 2015, from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., with a Rosary reciting at 7:00 P.M., in the Chapel of Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home.
Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, July 30, 2015, at 10:00 A.M., at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, 4600 E. Ben White Blvd, 78741.
