Audrey Lee Michael

In loving memory of our mom, Audrey Lee Michael, who passed away on May 20, 2023. She was the devoted wife of Frank and loving mother of Carolyn, Wesley, Howard and David.

She was born May 12, 1935 in Staunton VA to parents Howard Monroe Diggs and Pearl Moorman Diggs. She was preceded in death by husband William Franklin Michael, great grandson Phoenix Nowlin, great granddaughter Kaitlyn Michael, and her parents Howard & Pearl Diggs, infant sister Naomi Ruth Diggs, brothers-in-law Elden Griffin, Robert Kilmer & Raymond Via, son-in-law Arthur French, daughter-in-law Patti Michael and first cousin (in-law/“sister by choice”) Mable Driver. She is survived by her children Carolyn Spencer (Dan), Wesley Michael, Howard Michael (Dana) and David Michael (Lorri), 15 Grandchildren and 16 Great grandchildren, her siblings Emily Griffin, Eleanor Bennington (Roy), Joyce Via, Paul Diggs (Elizabeth) and Ethelyn Kilmer, first Cousin (“brother” by choice) David Driver and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mom was a Godly, kind, and humble person who always put the needs of her family before her own. She was a steady and faithful companion to her husband and kids and always knew what to say to support and encourage us in life’s most difficult moments. She was a prayer warrior who faced every challenge in her life with courage and faith. Our mother was a source of inspiration to all of us and she will be deeply missed by everyone whose lives she touched.

Growing up, Mom was always there for us. She was quiet and steadfast. She was wise and always provided sound advice and a nudge of encouragement. She was also a shoulder to cry on. But we always had tissues ready because she was very tender and the tears flowed easily for mom! She was a woman of strong faith and supported her husband Frank in many years of ministry. By example, she instilled in us the importance of faith, family and hard work. Our mother was an exemplary role model who we will always look up to. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. We celebrate knowing that she has joined dad in eternity.

Visitation for Audrey will be held Thursday, June 29, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Bakersfield, CA 93306. A memorial service will be held Friday June 30, 2023 at 11:30am at Ridgeview Community Church, 8420 Stine Road, Bakersfield CA, 93313.
