

Bobby Lee Lawson, 74, of Bakersfield, California, passed away on January 19, 2026. Born on August 4, 1951, in Bakersfield, Bobby was (mostly) a lifelong resident who left a lasting mark on his family, his profession, and all who knew him.
Bobby was known for his sense of humor, generous heart, and deep love for his family. He was a true family man whose greatest joy was being “Papa” to his grandchildren, of whom he was immensely proud and devoted. His laughter, kindness, and steady presence will be deeply missed.
A registered nurse for 25 years, Bobby was passionate about caring for others. He was widely respected in his field, and many colleagues described him as the best boss they ever had when he was a manager of med/surg/ peds—a leader who led with compassion, fairness, and integrity.
Outside of work, Bobby enjoyed golfing and was a loyal Los Angeles Dodgers fan. A man of strong faith, he was a devoted Christian whose life reflected his beliefs through service, love, and humility.
Bobby is survived by his beloved wife, Della Lawson; his children, Sean, Samantha, and Amy; his cherished grandchildren, Andie, Gavin, Maddison, Mason, Claire, Jillian, and Christopher; and his sisters Pam and Beverly. He was preceded in death by his precious daughter, Tara, who passed away at the age of 12 and remained forever in his heart as well as his parents Opal and Herb and his brother Jimmy.
Bobby’s legacy of love, laughter, and faith will live on through the many lives he touched. A celebration of life will be held on February 27, 2026 at 1:00 PM at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
