

Dave was born to William Bell Hutchison and Ruth Flick Hutchison. Dave was the youngest of four brothers and sisters.
Dave was raised in Ashland, Oregon. Attended and graduated from Ashland High School. During High School he became interested in Amateur Radio.
In the Air Force he was a MARS Operator. His home on Alandale was a Certified MARS (Military Axillary Radio System) transmission location. Through Amateur Radio and MARS Dave spoke to individuals all over the world. He was working as a TV repair man in Shafter, CA where he met Barbara Webb. Dave and Barbara were married on April 6, 1963. Dave worked as a radio technician and ran MARS, in the Air Force, most of the time at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas. He even spent time at Area 51 (he did not report seeing aliens).
He retired from the Air Force in May 1981, when he moved to Bakersfield to work at Voice of America in Delano. Dave retired from Voice of America in December of 1999.
Dave is survived by his wife Barbara, daughter Dana (of Bakersfield) and son David (of Lompoc)
In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to American Heart Association, Kern County Alzheimer’s Association or Shriners Children Hospital.
