California to Ludie and Ammie
Gentry, the youngest of ten children.
He grew up in and ran the streets of
Oildale all of his younger years. He
was a proud North High Star, class of
1968. He knew everyone in town,
whether it be from school, racing, or
just being one of the red-headed
Gentry boys. He was a plumber-pipe
fitter (Local #460) by trade, but loved
to work on classic cars and race cars,
ride his Harley, and go cat fishing
with any of his brothers or nephews.
His latest passion in life since
retiring in 2001 was golf. He got to
live out his retirement dream at the
coast in Oceano for the last seven
years. He lived with leukemia for the
last 25 years and was in remission
after his chemo when he developed
a rare virus. He fought the bravest
battle anyone has ever seen.
He is survived by his wife Wanda,
daughter Kim Fox (Brian), son Chris,
daughter Kari Eves (Lonnie),
stepsons Nick and Rick Hylton,
grandchildren Brady and Macie Fox,
and Aeryn Eves, and many, many
family members. Family meant
everything to him and he had
numerous family and friends meet
him at the Gates of Heaven.
Celebration of Services will be
held at Hillcrest Memorial Park with
a viewing on Thursday February 19,
2015 from 4-8pm, and Graveside
