Ethel M. Froehlich was welcomed into the loving arms of her precious Lord and Savior on November 20, 2014. She was born in Callahan County, Texas on August 11, 1912. Ethel was the second of three daughters born to John and Ona Jolly. The family moved from Texas to Lamont, California in 1930. Soon after her arrival to California, she obtained employment and housing as a nurse’s trainee at Kern General Hospital. During her training she met her future husband Glenn E. Froehlich. Following three years of whirlwind dating her and Glenn were married on December 24,1933 in the small farming community of Rosedale. Ethel and Glenn resided in Rosedale for forty years during which time they raised three sons:Ronald, Richard and James. Being the wife of an energetic farmer and mother of three active sons was both enjoyable and challenging. Ethel loved dining out and dancing. She was an avid bowler, loved traveling with Glenn and hosting family functions on the ranch in Rosedale. She was active in many community organizations including Rosedale School PTA, Rosedale Grange Hall, Rosedale 4-HClub (co-founder), Greenacres Baptist Church, Lady Lions Club, Kern County Braille Center and Bakersfield Women’s Club. In 1974, Ethel and Glenn retired from farming and moved to a new home in the Kern City retirement community. During the next fourteen years, they traveled together extensively, enjoying fishing, hunting and site seeing. Following Glenn’s death in 1988, she remained active in Braille center and church function and enjoyed trips with her favorite lady friends. The good Lord blessed mom with a long, abundant and rewarding life. Her tremendous influence, guidance, commitment and devotion to membersof the family will long be cherished. Along with her strong Christian faith, loved ones will forever remember special stories told, traditions handed down, lessons taught and things for which she stood. These are all her parting gifts to each of us. As she arrives in her eternal home, reunited with numerous loved ones, may God select a special place for this special lady. Ethel was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Thelma Clement, great granddaughter Jordyn Froehlich, and special friend Henry Kroeker. She is survived by sons Ron (Janice), Richard (Michelle), James (Barbara), seven grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren and sister Billie Carroll. The family would like to acknowledge and sincerely thank Drs. William Bezdek and Albert Peinado for their service to our mother. Special recognition and love is extended to mom’s long time caregiver and earthly angel Dora Delgado for her untiring care and devotion.
