Faye Ethel Sayre

Bakersfield – Our sweet mother left our lives but not our hearts on April 10, 2025. Faye was born in Aspermont, Texas on September 23, 1928 to Willie Mae and Leonard Vernon Mallory. Her parents left Texas for work in California. Faye was left with her father's mother for three years. Faye was the oldest of eight children, she attended Bakersfield High School. She met and married her high school sweetheart Delbert Abercrombie and together they had four children.

Faye was preceded in death by her son Delbert Leroy (Butch) Abercrombie, and husbands Delbert Eugene Abercrombie, Dr. George Singer, Joe Kirby, and Lowell Sayre.

Faye worked in Kern County and Orange County welfare offices, retiring from Orange County. She held many jobs in her life including, Bruce's Dept. as a bookkeeper, Three Way Chevrolet as an office clerk (when it was on Chester Ave). She also worked for a place that made model airplanes (The Flying Wing). Faye traveled to many places in the states and other countries. She enjoyed golf and tennis and loved to dance and spent many days at the Rasmussen Community Center.

Faye is survived by Darrel Abercrombie (Jill), Karen Abercrombie, Jennifer Abercrombie, eleven grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
