With a heavy heart, we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle. Ildefonso Marquez passed away peacefully in his sleep at home December 27, 2018. Ildefonso was born on January 23, 1932 in Tampico Tamaulipas, Mexico to Andres and Marcela Marquez. He grew up in Tampico with his 9 brothers, 3 sisters and upon completing preparatory school he immigrated to the United states. In 1955 he met Beatrice L. Rodriguez. They married in 1957 and their two children followed, Albert I. Marquez Sr. and Laura Marquez Maldonado.
Upon moving to Bakersfield Ildefonso, who was called Al or Alfonso by his family and friends, worked for A and P Trucking for years.
In 1973 the Marquez Family purchased Casa Loma Market. The family ran Casa Loma Market for 30 year. Over the course of these years many life long friends were made. He had a big heart and was known for his wit, advice giving and no-nonsense attitude.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife Beatrice, parents Andres and Marcela, and siblings Maria, Alberto, Irineo, Lorenzo, Alfonso, Julio, Juan, Gabriel, Martin, and Diego. He is survived by his children Albert Sr., Laura and Jose Maldonado. Grandchildren, Kim and Jared Schneider, Julie and Dennis Reyes, Laurie and Armando Arambula, Albert Jr. and Andrea Rayo, Joseph Maldonado and Becky Garcia, Jacob and Esther Marquez, Jessie Maldonado and Levi Chavez. Great-Grandchildren, Audrey and Natalie Schneider, Lexie, Scarlett, and Ryan Reyes, Anthony and Lauren Arambula, London Marquez, Gianni Broussard and Xadie Marquez. He is also survived by his siblings Adela and Regina.
