James was born in Sioux Falls, S.D., to Merle and Gertrude Warren. In 1937, the family settled in Reedsport, Oregon, where he lived a mischievous and creative young life with his four siblings, Lucia (Keith Powers), Robert (Shirley Warren), Rita (Don Abbott), and Glenda Warren. After graduating, Jim served in the Marines from 1954-57.
While stationed in San Francisco, Jim met Gloria Barsotti of Bakersfield, fell in love, married, and raised three sons, Anthony (JoAn), David (Kimberly), and Todd (Lyndley). Jim was a captain in the Kern County Fire Department before retiring in 1987 after 25 years, and ran X-ray Solution Services until his early 80’s.
After his marriage to Gloria, Jim met and fell in love with Betty Bracamonte and they enjoyed 41 years of marriage. They modeled a deep and abiding love. Becoming the step-father to Pam (Corey Wolf) and Ken Bracamonte was a proud honor, and as the family grew so did his joy. He often boasted of his 5 children, 14 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. He is survived by them all and will be greatly missed.
