John was very sociable, a people person and had a boisterous laugh. Many observed that he would witness the love of Jesus to people caring for him in doctor's offices, his home care aides and people he met in stores. He would ask them if they were Christian and if they had Jesus in their hearts and were ready to go to Heaven when they die. His brother Carl observed that John would witness to anyone, even the devil himself.
John was an avid outdoorsman, a prankster and mostly importantly a servant of God. His was a life well lived and he will be missed dearly but best of all, he is now resting with Jesus.
1 Thessalonians 4:14-18 For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. According to the LORD's word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the LORD, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the LORD himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the LORD in the air. And so we will be with the LORD forever. Therefore encourage one another with these words.
A visitation for Johnnie will be held Monday, August 3, 2020 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Mortuary, 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Bakersfield, CA 93306, followed by a funeral service from 12:00 PM to 12:45 PM.
