Kate Simmons Hall

A devout Christian and fervent believer in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior Kate passed away on February 27, 2014. Over the years Kate wore out several bibles. Kate constantly read the bible and listened to tapes, many from Billy Graham. Kate was born in Paris, Arkansas to Steve and Lela Simmons. Kate left home as soon as she graduated from high school. Kate attended and graduated from Business School in Tulsa, Oklahoma where she worked for several years. Kate also attended Oklahoma University. Kate married Gerald and moved to Abilene, Texas where she began raising her family. After several years Kate moved back to Oklahoma where she and Gerald owned and operated a large cattle ranch. Kate was an excellent cook and the consummate hostess for visiting friends and relatives who wanted to retreat from the busy city to the ranch for recreation and relaxation. Friends and relatives never left Kate’s house without Kate giving them food or a gift. During this time Kate earned enough money to purchase a farm with a residence for her parents which she paid for in full at date of purchase. Kate was an avid card and domino player. Christmas tree decorating was a specialty. Christmas and Easter were her favorite holidays.

Kate moved to Bakersfield California in 1964 and went to work as an Executive Secretary for Southern Pacific Railroad. After retirement from Southern Pacific Railroad Kate was an ambassador for Secure Horizons for several years. Kate was very proud of this job because she was able to help people.

Kate was preceded in death by her husband Gerald. Kate is survived by her children Mark S. Hall (Louise Juracek Hall), Lisa J. Tate (Steve Tate), Rodney W. Hall (Cathy Hall), and grandchildren Brandon, Kayse, Seth, Erin, and Chad. We extend a special thanks to Hospice and staff of Pacifica Senior Living for the personal and professional care Kate received. Additionally, Kate loved the wonderful ministry and visits provided by Judy Olson and Pastor Jon Christenson of Redeemer Lutheran Church.

Viewing is at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 9101 Kern Canyon Road Friday, March 7, 2014 between 4:00 PM and 8:00 PM. Services will be performed on March 8, 2014, 12:00 PM by Pastor Jon Christenson at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 2525 Belle Terrace Bakersfield CA 93304. Meal and refreshment will be provided for family and friends in the Redeemer Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall following the Funeral Services.
